Fall 2011 Happy Harvest Time !

What a day.!  Hurricane Irene is spinning her way up the east coast after barreling through  NC  today.  We  had  mostly gentle rain and  big gusts of wind whipping the trees around here at Drumsong.  The tree outside my kitchen window came crashing down and spirit was kind to us as it appears to have just dented the gutter and  landed  right between the corner of the kitchen and the fish pond that was recently donated .  It just missed  the electrical meter before crushing the chair  I sat in last evening while visiting with the frogs and fish. Thank you  Creator  for  the graceful way you spared  us  and the goldfish from danger!  We are so grateful!!.  May those in Irene’s path today be blessed with such grace as well.  Today was spent harvesting and  preparing  the summer abundance of  holy basil  (tincture), hot peppers (drying), and basil (pesto).  The house smells of basil, garlic, and bone broth as I settle in for the evening  with so much to be grateful for.

Fall is on the way and the calendar is filling up.  There are some changes  from the last newsletter so  please verify herein for dates and  times of ceremonies.  I had to cancel the Fall  Equinox Fire ceremony here  as I’ll be in ceremony elsewhere that weekend   but we will have the Yom Kippur ( Day of At-One-Ment)  Fire Ceremony on  October 8th and  a Sweat Lodge on October 1st  so we‘ll welcome Autumn  then.  Feel free to help out on one of the work days if you can.  Then on November 4th we’ll celebrate our ancestors at the Day of the Dead  Fire Ceremony.  I hope to see you around the fire, in ceremony as we continue to heal ourselves and one another in this great circle of life.
If you have not yet seen the Paperhand Puppet  Show this year next weekend  is the last chance  at Forest Theater before they go to Raleigh.  The show is called The Serpent’s Egg and is about the Divine Feminine. It’s awesome!!!  www.paperhand.org

May you take the colors of summer, the warmth of the sun, the hummingbird giggles, and the green of the sunlit water deep into your bellies as the nights get cooler and the days shorter.
With  love and gratitude for my life and yours,
Miriam/Windsong Woman

Arapaho Little Boys and Girls Sweat Lodge
This lodge will be poured by Miriam / Windson g Woman    in the tradition passed down to me by my beloved  Elder Sharon Mitchell.  This is a beautiful teaching lodge that has the strength and heat for those with experience in an inipi and the gentleness and ease for those who will join us for the first time (which is how it came to be known and the Little Boys and Girls Lodge).  While supervised children are welcome it is not a lodge specifically for children as some have asked me before.  Feel free to call me with questions and to let me know if spirit is calling you to join us so I can let you know what time to arrive and how to prepare.

Saturday October 1 ,  9:00 am until we have returned the land and lodge to order and feasted well … into early evening most likely

Workdays Possibilities:  Saturdays September 3  and 17 ; Sunday September 4  and Fridays September 23rd or  30th   OR  by letting me know when you are available to help with gathering wood and stones, raking, moving blankets, etc.

The preparations are part of the ceremony and  are a labor of love and communion with the land, the tall standing ones, the stone people, the water and enrich one’s experience of the ceremony greatly as we joyfully do this sacred work together.

Please contact Miriam (919) 304-5754 or melieber@mebtel.net) to RSVP, find out protocols, directions and/or ask questions.  I will send more information to those planning on attending as to how to prepare and what to bring.  Directions are also available on my website www.drumsongsanctuary.com.

FridayNovember 3 Day of the Dead
Sunday December 18 4:00-7:30 Winter Solstice

Join us for a Fire Ceremony to release what no longer serves us.  Come feed the eternal flame as we circle round this sacred fire holding  ourselves accountable to creator for our successes and our messes.  Come prepared to lay down  self- judgment, fear, blame, anger and take responsibility for your life stepping into the person you aspire to be.   Take your strength, courage, love, light, growth, resilience, clarity, innocence, playfulness, joy away with  you.

You will have the opportunity to shed beliefs, grief, feelings, thoughts, relationships or anything else that is hampering your ability to be fully and completely who you are by offering them to the fire. We will witness each other as we make new agreements with spirit and dream our lives into being. We will feed the holies and ask their assistance in co-creating ourselves, our thoughts and our lives as we wish them to be. The choice is always yours!
