Hello Friends,
The month of January has completely gotten away from me as I stoke the fire and cook soup for the soul warming body and spirit. The ice beings stayed in our little wooded world for quite some time and have now left the landscape damp and muddy. Keeping the birdfeeders full and the woodstove going are my focus along with quiet contemplative time to work on medicine pieces and restore my roots. The sun is shining brightly on this brisk wintry afternoon stirring the urge to grow green and tall beneath the earth’s surface.

It is time to dream and imagine the world we wish to live in so we can come out of the gates this spring ready to create ourselves in that image once again. We are our thoughts and we have the power to be who we most wish to be. But first take this winter time to revel in who you are now, how you got to this point in time, what have you accomplished, how have you seeded your life and what has grown? Spend some quiet time just appreciating who you are and the loved ones in your life. If we can treat our families with loving kindness, generosity and honest communication then we are on the way to creating a world of people who are generous, honest and kind. Ram Dass once said, “If you think you are enlightened, go home for a week.” Let us practice peace- making with every breath we take and let it begin within. Here’s some of what I’m dreaming up for 2011, more to come...
In gratitude for you,

Miriam

Arapaho Little Boys and Girls Sweat Lodge Ceremonies at Drumsong Sanctuary for the Soul

Sunday February 27, 2011 poured by Zoe Allison-Rockingbear weather permitting

Saturday April 2, 2011 poured by Sharon Mitchell

Please Arrive between 9:30 and 10:00 am

Bring yourselves and your prayers to this lodge. As the water is poured over the sacred stones the steam will carry our blessings to creator and assist us to purify. The name of this lodge refers to an Arapaho tradition that is gentler and more flexible than some sweat lodge traditions but does not mean that is intended only for children as I have been asked this question often. This is a lodge for people of all ages to come and bask in the womb of the earth mother and the gentle teachings of our grandmother Sharon.

Rev. Sharon Mitchell has been honored with the passing down of the tradition of this Arapaho Nation sweat lodge. She has been on the Red Road, living Native American Spirituality for over twenty years. Her experience will inspire you to discover the power that you carry within you to manifest Grandmother‘s Spirit in your personal life. Rev. Sharon is a Science of Mind Ordained Minister bringing together New Thought and Ancient Wisdom in a weekly circle. She creates sacred and traditional ceremonies in her business, Ceremonies From the Heart.

Zoe Allison is an Artist, Scholar, Science of Mind Ordained Minister and SHY Spiritual Human Yoga Healer and Certified Hypnotherapist. She is co-founder of Earth Green Medicine Lodge, a center for creating healthy spiritual-based mindful lives, located in the Western North Carolina mountains. Zoe has led
classes and workshops privately and at colleges and universities for 35 years and has traveled extensively throughout Mexico, Peru, Bolivia and Argentina visiting many of the sacred sites, working with the people and creating sacred ceremonies. She is the author of the Mayan Record Keeper, the Sacred Tzolkin, an Almanac of the Days, the Mayan Wave Tracker and a yearly calendar of the days of prophecy, and The Mayan Record Keeper cards
Workdays: Fri. February 25 10:00-1:00, Sat. 10:-1:00, Fri. April 1 10:00-1:00,

or let me know when you are available to help with cutting, moving, and gathering wood and stones, raking, moving blankets, etc. If you have WOOD or STONES to offer, we are grateful and they can be brought anytime and stacked. The preparations are part of the ceremony and are a labor of love and communion with the land, the tall standing ones, the stone people, the water and enrich one’s experience of the ceremony greatly as we joyfully do this sacred work together. Let me know when you can help and we’ll make a plan.

Please contact Miriam (919) 304-5754 or melieber@mebtel.net ) to RSVP, find out protocols, directions and ask questions. We will potluck FEAST together afterwards. I’ll send more information to those planning on attending as to how to prepare and what to bring. Directions are also available on my website http://www.drumsongsanctuary.com/.

Birthing my drum was a definite highlight in my life. It was a powerful, deep and connective experience... I would recommend it to anyone who wishes to tap into their fullest sense of their creative self."

Robin Lynne, Rainbow Feather, Intentional Healing

"The drum making workshop was and continues to be an amazing experience for me. I had no conscious experience with drums or drumming in this lifetime and was expecting a kind of fun and light "craft" workshop with a Native American flavor. Instead I found the ritual, hard work and reverence for what I was creating to be serious and profoundly meaningful and healing." - Patricia Dee, Astrina Living Art
