Late Fall 2011

Good Day My Friends!,
I’m home this morning after a beautiful weekend of Incan ceremony with Pierre Garreaud ( soundlighthealer.com ). It was fantastic! Much is happening this autumn and we are all having to make choices. I’m still reading and learning from the new book Power Up Your Brain by Alberto Villoldo Ph.D and David Perlmutter, MD. They merge the best of shamanism, neuroscience and functional medicine (nutritional healing) into a great program to heal our brains and build our energy. Once my cleansing of seasonal pollen or whatever has gotten me is cleared I’ll be jumping in with that.

We had a beautiful sweat lodge last month and a community member is bringing some wood today in preparation for the next and the next… Let me know if you are called to request a lodge for yourself or for the community or wish to support in any way.

Here at Drumsong on November 4th we’ll have a Drum Birthing Ceremony with Zoe Allison followed directly by the Day of the Dead Fire Ceremony. I hope to see you around the fire in ceremony as we honor our ancestors, our lineage, and offer and seek forgiveness in this great circle of life. See below for details.
Then over that weekend (Nov 5-6) Zoe is offering the first two levels of the Light Language training at Jordan Lake which looks amazing! .This weekend (Oct 28-30) Zoe Allison and Will Rockingbear will be in Winston-Salem, keep reading for the details.

May the dazzling colors and zest of Fall energize you and bless you with inspiration for your inward journey. As we encircle the fire with the leaves blowing around us, let us also dismantle our old growth and let it fall away making room for the dreaming time to come, the incubation of how we will transform as our roots systems sink deeper in to the earth feeding us at the core level. Come heal yourself and the seven generations in your circle of life.

Miriam/Windsong Woman

Drum Birthing Ceremony (for those who made drums with Zoe or have new drums)
Friday November 4th at 6:00- 7:00 pm Bring a snack 7:00 to 7:30 followed by Day of the Dead Fire Ceremony 7:30 till finished
Friday November 4th to circle up with us and our drums in the ceremonial birthing from 6-7 pm. Bring gifts for adorning our drums to gift to one another and/or pass around (preferably not sharp items that can injure our drums). I hope as many as you as possible can join us even though some of you live a distance from here. We will birth them together and then those who wish to stay for the Day of the Dead Fire Ceremony right afterwards are welcome . We’ll have a table for offerings of food to share if people wish to snack a little (simple finger foods are best, perhaps your ancestors favorite foods) before entering into the ceremony to honor our ancestors and to feed the holies.

Please let me know if you will be able to join us and please be prompt as the evening unfolds from this ceremony into the celebration of our lineages and those who came before us. There will be a large community altar to place sacred medicine pieces on, flowers, photos, foods, candles (bring tea lights) to light the way for them to join us at this fire. Hope to see you then

Fire Ceremony
Friday November 4 Day of the Dead 7:30 pm till late
Sunday December 18 4:00-7:30 Winter Solstice
Join us for a Fire Ceremony to release what no longer serves you. Come feed the eternal flame as we circle round the sacred fire . The Day of the Dead is a festival south of the border that celebrates the circle of life. Communities honor their loved ones with altars, processions and picnics to the graveyard, multitudes of flowers, candles, their favorite foods, drinks, photos, story telling. We honor them and what they have gifted us. We can also heal new and old grief, hurts and sorrow with the support of a loving community. We can make new agreements with them as their spirits are no longer entrapped in the body and personality but are free to love unconditionally .Take strength, courage, love, light, growth, resilience, clarity, innocence, playfulness, joy away with you.

You will have the opportunity to shed beliefs, grief, feelings, thoughts, relationships or anything else that is hampering your ability to be fully and completely who you are by offering them to the fire. We will witness each other as we make new agreements with spirit and dream our lives into being. We will feed the holies and ask their assistance in co-creating ourselves, our thoughts and our lives as we wish them to be. The choice is always yours!

“We spend our lives for-getting that living is for-giving.” Dean Fraser

If you are drawn to be here please call or email Miriam at (919) 304-5754 or melieber@mebtel.net so I’ll know how many people to expect and give you directions if needed. I invite all women to wear a skirt or sarong over pants to honor our sacred grandmothers and the circle of life. There is never a fee for ceremony but Gifting is appropriate and appreciated to support the life and work of the elders who dedicate their lives to keeping the old ways available.

This teacher comes from the rich tradition of infusing participants in Shamanism practices of health and Light Language.Passed down for 25+ generations from an unbroken lineage of Curanderos (Mexican Shamans), Light Language is an ancient Mayan system that works using sacred geometry and colored light to reshape the aura for personal healing and co-create new realities for our futures and others.

Many of us have had the experience of working with color to shift our mood or outlook. Light Language can move you into operating with a quantum shift in attitude for your own therapy. You will be using the tools of geometric shapes and the color waves of the spectral lights of creation. Your own concentration will have attitude shifts for your therapies.

You will learn to communicate at light speed by writing light with specific patterns to create profound healing and transformation for yourself and the lives of your loved ones.

The Mayans have given us many levels of teachings through their sciences of Art, Architecture and Math. They have been marking and calculating our earth celestial movements in the sky. Astonishingly these calculations have shown us how powerful we truly are. We are pure conduits of Universal energy God's energy. We are capable of creating miracles. In this place of inner truth we can find inner peace and harmony.

Find the joy of the journey deep within. Where you can reform patterns nolonger needed and prepare to shatter old beliefs of your domestication. Learn new respect for the communal dream. See beyond restrictive fragments of your personal ego. Discover your own souls work. Light language, using the colored light frequencies and Sacred Geometry will give you the skills of your Life's Mastery.
Transform your life with the power and wisdom of these ancient teachings. You can experience dreaming your life into reality. You can co-create gifts with Spirit. Find a clearer connection with your inner Gods and Goddesses, helpers, guides and protectors.

These teachings will deepen your respect for Mother Earth and our ancestors. They will give you a new respect for our position in the cycles of time and creation. Light Language will help you find a place of inner peace and harmony knowing that you are co-creating on the deepest level with Creator. You only need to enter in with clarity of mind and open heart. Be willing to move away from a place of expectations, preconceptions and prejudices. This is a rich transformational teaching for claiming yoru personal power and breaking old patterns of mistrust, limitation and grief.
888 Light Language uses Sacred Geometries and vibrations of color light. Matching Geometrical shapes and pairing these shapes with colors to create patterns to realize perfection. Sacred Geometrical shapes form the building blocks of the universe. Specific shapes and patterns occur repeatedly in nature. Sacred geometries are paired with colors to create outcomes of health and well being in the situations of our lives. Freedom can be co-created in new forms for the benefic of all sentient beings. Even genetic or habitual energies can be shifted with Light Language. The prayers (directives) are clear and direct, free of contamination that words carry; and from this clarity, the universe responds as asked.

This is more than positive thinking and can move people or situations from suffering and distress with insight and reverence for Mother Earth. Please join us for this Shamanic gathering. Many people have made Light Language a profound part of their life. These teachings can be found to be a perfect and powerful place to allow transformation.

Empowered by the Mayan's teaching of the Sacred Days, learn how to tell the truth, so that the blood within can ignite the Solar Fires of the Sky Clans.

Discover how to empower yourself, your clients, your family, and your friends. Learn how to raise your vibration and align yourself with your purpose.

Give yourself this gift.
We are the Artists, Healers, Visionaries and Warriors; we have been waiting for. Through creativity, motion and music, story telling and the Law of attraction our initiations have begun. Initiations will follow Level Two class work!!!!
We will meet at a special place of nature, Lake Jordon, NC November 5 - 6, 2011

Fall 2011 Happy Harvest Time !

What a day.!  Hurricane Irene is spinning her way up the east coast after barreling through  NC  today.  We  had  mostly gentle rain and  big gusts of wind whipping the trees around here at Drumsong.  The tree outside my kitchen window came crashing down and spirit was kind to us as it appears to have just dented the gutter and  landed  right between the corner of the kitchen and the fish pond that was recently donated .  It just missed  the electrical meter before crushing the chair  I sat in last evening while visiting with the frogs and fish. Thank you  Creator  for  the graceful way you spared  us  and the goldfish from danger!  We are so grateful!!.  May those in Irene’s path today be blessed with such grace as well.  Today was spent harvesting and  preparing  the summer abundance of  holy basil  (tincture), hot peppers (drying), and basil (pesto).  The house smells of basil, garlic, and bone broth as I settle in for the evening  with so much to be grateful for.

Fall is on the way and the calendar is filling up.  There are some changes  from the last newsletter so  please verify herein for dates and  times of ceremonies.  I had to cancel the Fall  Equinox Fire ceremony here  as I’ll be in ceremony elsewhere that weekend   but we will have the Yom Kippur ( Day of At-One-Ment)  Fire Ceremony on  October 8th and  a Sweat Lodge on October 1st  so we‘ll welcome Autumn  then.  Feel free to help out on one of the work days if you can.  Then on November 4th we’ll celebrate our ancestors at the Day of the Dead  Fire Ceremony.  I hope to see you around the fire, in ceremony as we continue to heal ourselves and one another in this great circle of life.
If you have not yet seen the Paperhand Puppet  Show this year next weekend  is the last chance  at Forest Theater before they go to Raleigh.  The show is called The Serpent’s Egg and is about the Divine Feminine. It’s awesome!!!  www.paperhand.org

May you take the colors of summer, the warmth of the sun, the hummingbird giggles, and the green of the sunlit water deep into your bellies as the nights get cooler and the days shorter.
With  love and gratitude for my life and yours,
Miriam/Windsong Woman

Arapaho Little Boys and Girls Sweat Lodge
This lodge will be poured by Miriam / Windson g Woman    in the tradition passed down to me by my beloved  Elder Sharon Mitchell.  This is a beautiful teaching lodge that has the strength and heat for those with experience in an inipi and the gentleness and ease for those who will join us for the first time (which is how it came to be known and the Little Boys and Girls Lodge).  While supervised children are welcome it is not a lodge specifically for children as some have asked me before.  Feel free to call me with questions and to let me know if spirit is calling you to join us so I can let you know what time to arrive and how to prepare.

Saturday October 1 ,  9:00 am until we have returned the land and lodge to order and feasted well … into early evening most likely

Workdays Possibilities:  Saturdays September 3  and 17 ; Sunday September 4  and Fridays September 23rd or  30th   OR  by letting me know when you are available to help with gathering wood and stones, raking, moving blankets, etc.

The preparations are part of the ceremony and  are a labor of love and communion with the land, the tall standing ones, the stone people, the water and enrich one’s experience of the ceremony greatly as we joyfully do this sacred work together.

Please contact Miriam (919) 304-5754 or melieber@mebtel.net) to RSVP, find out protocols, directions and/or ask questions.  I will send more information to those planning on attending as to how to prepare and what to bring.  Directions are also available on my website www.drumsongsanctuary.com.

Spring Newsletter

Hello Friends,

This Spring is dazzling us with luscious weather and prolific growth and bounty from the plant nation. The peonies in my garden are simply divine, some silky white with tinges of pink in the heart of the saucer sized blooms and others a magenta that shimmers in the sun. Their aroma fills the room. Deep purple salvia spikes, lavender with the little flags on top, irises a plenty, pink and red roses, and honeysuckle with cascades of orange and pink blooms adorn the yard . The clematis is reaching for the heavens but has not yet birthed its purple star flowers. Aaahh… the season of greens of all shades and depths from that early lime green of new growth to the rich greens of shiny foliage. The spring rains bathe the landscape and nourish us all. Our color palette is full and the senses enlivening. The birds are singing their waking up songs with glee!

Today my son gifted me a day of work, building a garden fence so we can grow food and keep the deer at bay. It is a perfect day! In this community alone there are many people needing prayers, healing and support of all kinds so kneeling on this mother earth I am offering up prayers for the people near and far facing challenges at this time. May you feel our love and support.

A friend shared a book with me this week called “Earthing” which scientifically proves what Native Americans have said for so long. We need to stand barefoot on the earth everyday to ground our energy and connect the circuit between sky and earth energies to get back in balance. Check it out!

As we prepare for this summer’s Vision Quest which will be July 11-16 at Big Butte, we are raising funds to support this beautiful ceremony as these questers prepare to go up on the mountain to seek their vision. We are having a yard sale on Saturday May 28 in Durham (see below). If you have items to donate for sale or can stop by we would so appreciate it. Call Miriam in Chapel Hill 919 304-5754 or Amy in Durham 919 597-8740 to donate your treasures to the next family or friend in the great circle.

AND there has been a request for a FIREWALK so it is happening Friday June 3rd, see the details below. Our Elder Rich Myers will be visiting and sharing this ceremony with us. Please let Miriam know if you are called to attend.

In gratitude for all life,

Miriam

If you have never experienced a Firewalk , here is an opportunity for you to come and have one of life’s most memorable experiences. Walk for yourself, for spirit, for joy, for life, for healing. Walk in celebration.
The evening with the fire allows us to merge with the fire…fueling our passion and enthusiasm for what we desire to create in our lives. Walking the coals is not required to benefit from this expansive experience and align deeply with our own fire.

Wear clothes to be comfortable outdoors rain or shine
Cost: $50.00 (couples $75.00) (Students $30.00)

(directions given at time of registration)

Firewalking is an ancient ritual that teaches people to reach beyond their limiting beliefs. In so doing we bring greater balance and beauty into our lives and spark our ability to co-create our personal dream. Many people say this evening program is the most transformational experience of their life. Whether you walk on the coals or not, you will feel empowered and inspired!

The intent is to align with the elemental energies of the fire and ignite the fire within each of us. Being with the fire allows us to step through our fears and become the people we are meant to be. The evening with the fire allows us to merge with our own spirit ...fueling our passion and enthusiasm for what we desire to create for our lives.
This intent is made possible by spending the evening working with the fire and, if we choose to, walking over the coals. However it is not required to walk in order to align with this element. The decision to walk the coals is between you and spirit, and an amazing experience, whether you walk the coals or stand by those who do.

Blessings and thanks for reading.

Sunday, February 13, 2011

Hello Friends,
The month of January has completely gotten away from me as I stoke the fire and cook soup for the soul warming body and spirit. The ice beings stayed in our little wooded world for quite some time and have now left the landscape damp and muddy. Keeping the birdfeeders full and the woodstove going are my focus along with quiet contemplative time to work on medicine pieces and restore my roots. The sun is shining brightly on this brisk wintry afternoon stirring the urge to grow green and tall beneath the earth’s surface.

It is time to dream and imagine the world we wish to live in so we can come out of the gates this spring ready to create ourselves in that image once again. We are our thoughts and we have the power to be who we most wish to be. But first take this winter time to revel in who you are now, how you got to this point in time, what have you accomplished, how have you seeded your life and what has grown? Spend some quiet time just appreciating who you are and the loved ones in your life. If we can treat our families with loving kindness, generosity and honest communication then we are on the way to creating a world of people who are generous, honest and kind. Ram Dass once said, “If you think you are enlightened, go home for a week.” Let us practice peace- making with every breath we take and let it begin within. Here’s some of what I’m dreaming up for 2011, more to come...
In gratitude for you,

Miriam

Arapaho Little Boys and Girls Sweat Lodge Ceremonies at Drumsong Sanctuary for the Soul

Sunday February 27, 2011 poured by Zoe Allison-Rockingbear weather permitting

Saturday April 2, 2011 poured by Sharon Mitchell

Please Arrive between 9:30 and 10:00 am

Bring yourselves and your prayers to this lodge. As the water is poured over the sacred stones the steam will carry our blessings to creator and assist us to purify. The name of this lodge refers to an Arapaho tradition that is gentler and more flexible than some sweat lodge traditions but does not mean that is intended only for children as I have been asked this question often. This is a lodge for people of all ages to come and bask in the womb of the earth mother and the gentle teachings of our grandmother Sharon.

Rev. Sharon Mitchell has been honored with the passing down of the tradition of this Arapaho Nation sweat lodge. She has been on the Red Road, living Native American Spirituality for over twenty years. Her experience will inspire you to discover the power that you carry within you to manifest Grandmother‘s Spirit in your personal life. Rev. Sharon is a Science of Mind Ordained Minister bringing together New Thought and Ancient Wisdom in a weekly circle. She creates sacred and traditional ceremonies in her business, Ceremonies From the Heart.

Zoe Allison is an Artist, Scholar, Science of Mind Ordained Minister and SHY Spiritual Human Yoga Healer and Certified Hypnotherapist. She is co-founder of Earth Green Medicine Lodge, a center for creating healthy spiritual-based mindful lives, located in the Western North Carolina mountains. Zoe has led
classes and workshops privately and at colleges and universities for 35 years and has traveled extensively throughout Mexico, Peru, Bolivia and Argentina visiting many of the sacred sites, working with the people and creating sacred ceremonies. She is the author of the Mayan Record Keeper, the Sacred Tzolkin, an Almanac of the Days, the Mayan Wave Tracker and a yearly calendar of the days of prophecy, and The Mayan Record Keeper cards

"The drum making workshop was and continues to be an amazing experience for me. I had no conscious experience with drums or drumming in this lifetime and was expecting a kind of fun and light "craft" workshop with a Native American flavor. Instead I found the ritual, hard work and reverence for what I was creating to be serious and profoundly meaningful and healing." - Patricia Dee, Astrina Living Art
